Community Interest Company
Yoga in Schools is registered as a Community Interest Company. We are a not-for profit company. Here is an extract from our Community Interest Statement:
‘SECTION A: COMMUNITY INTEREST STATEMENT – beneficiaries
We/I, the undersigned, declare that the company will carry on its activities for the benefit of the community, or a section of the community .
The company’s activities will provide benefit to…
Students and pupils age 2 to 19 years, support staff and teachers in the community of individual or grouped state mainstream or special schools in the Oxfordshire and surrounding area, including key partners to the school community such as parents and voluntary agencies. The company is dedicated to advancing the key practices of yoga to promote clear minds, healthy bodies and thriving lives throughout the school curriculum and workplace.
Through successful fundraising we have already provided some mainstream and special schools with uncharged yoga. We always try and keep costs down, particularly for work with vulnerable and excluded groups of learners.
We believe in ‘wiping our finger-prints off’. Ideally we would like staff in schools to be so familiar with the benefits of yoga, and so well-trained, that we would go out of business. We have made a start on this by providing staff yoga classes and free Summer yoga day retreats for school staff. In 2017/18 we will provide training for primary class teachers and PE staff in all phases of education.
We regularly make funding bids with school partners to increase the number of projects that we can offer for free. Please let us know of projects you would like included in a bid.
